ScrollFit – Privacy Policy & Safety Statement

App Name: ScrollFit

Developer: Yashas S

Effective Date: 26 September 2025

ScrollFit is a digital wellness application that helps users build healthier screen time habits by requiring short exercise sessions to unlock entertainment apps. This document explains how ScrollFit handles privacy, data protection, security, and user safety.

1. Privacy & Data Protection

Local-only data storage

Most exercise data, app preferences, and blocking configurations are stored locally on your device. ScrollFit does not continuously upload your exercise performance or detailed usage history to the cloud.

On-device pose detection (no video recording)

The app uses your device camera only for real-time pose detection (for example, counting push-ups, squats, or planks). No workout videos are recorded or saved. No camera feed is stored on our servers.

Minimal cloud data and account data

If you create an account, we may store limited information such as:

Email address and basic profile information

Authentication tokens

High-level usage statistics (for example, number of sessions, total time earned)

This data is stored securely (for example, via services like Firebase Authentication/Firestore) and used only to provide core features such as login, backup of basic account state, or premium access.

No personal data mining or selling

We do not sell your personal data.

We do not rent or trade your personal data to third parties for advertising or profiling.

Any analytics we use are only to improve app stability, performance, and feature quality.

GDPR-style and privacy regulation alignment

ScrollFit is designed with principles similar to GDPR and other privacy regulations in mind, including:

Data minimization (collect only what is needed for functionality).

Purpose limitation (use data only for clearly stated purposes).

Security by design (protect data with modern security practices).

Your privacy rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights such as:

Accessing the data associated with your account.

Requesting correction or deletion of your account data.

Withdrawing consent where applicable.

You can contact us using the details at the end of this document for privacy-related requests.

2. Security Features

ScrollFit is built with multiple layers of security to prevent abuse and unauthorized tampering:

Accessibility-based monitoring

The app uses Android's Accessibility Service to monitor and control selected apps for screen-time management. This access is used only to detect when chosen apps are opened and to display blocking overlays or timers.

Anti-bypass and dual-service architecture

ScrollFit may run multiple background services to reduce the chance of being force-stopped or bypassed. These services only support the core functionality of app blocking and timers, and do not perform hidden tracking.

Device admin protection (optional)

If you grant Device Administrator permissions, ScrollFit can:

Make it harder to uninstall the app without first disabling protection.

Reduce accidental or intentional removal of the app's security features.

Settings protection

Certain in-app settings may be protected so that users cannot easily disable security mechanisms without explicit actions (for example, entering a PIN or going through a confirmation flow).

Technical safeguards

Data in transit is protected using industry-standard encryption (such as HTTPS).

Local data relies on Android's secure storage mechanisms where applicable.

We aim to apply regular security updates and improvements as the app evolves.

3. Health & Safety

ScrollFit's design focuses on safe, balanced physical activity and digital wellbeing:

Exercise form and injury prevention

The app encourages proper exercise form for common movements (such as squats, push-ups, and planks).

It is not a medical device and cannot guarantee injury prevention, but it promotes safe posture and reasonable volume.

Digital wellness and earned screen time

Users earn screen time for entertainment apps by completing exercise sessions.

This model aims to reduce mindless scrolling and promote intentional usage of social media and entertainment apps.

Mental health and motivation

Achievement systems, streaks, and progress feedback are used to motivate healthy habits, not to create pressure or guilt.

The app avoids exploitative mechanics that push excessive exercise.

Balanced reward system

ScrollFit is designed to prevent overexertion by encouraging short, manageable sessions.

Users are advised to respect their own limits and stop if they feel pain, dizziness, or discomfort.

The app does not force users into unsafe volume just to unlock screen time.

4. Technical Safety

Clear explanation of permissions

ScrollFit may request the following permissions:

Camera – for real-time pose detection only; no photo or video recording.

Accessibility Service – to monitor and block selected apps as part of screen-time control.

Display over other apps (overlay) – to show blocking screens, timers, and guidance overlays.

Device Admin (optional) – to protect against unauthorized uninstall.

Internet – for authentication, premium subscription checks, remote configuration, and crash/analytics reports.

Each permission is requested only when needed, and we explain its purpose inside the app as clearly as possible.

Battery-optimized performance

Background processes are optimized to minimize unnecessary battery drain.

Monitoring is focused on selected apps rather than constant heavy system scan.

Device compatibility

ScrollFit targets Android 7.0 (API 24) and above.

Some advanced features may behave differently depending on OEM customizations and battery optimization settings.

No excessive permissions

ScrollFit asks only for permissions that are necessary for:

Exercise detection.

Screen-time management and blocking.

Account and subscription management.

It does not request permissions such as SMS, call logs, contacts, or microphone for core operation.

5. Advertising and Analytics

ScrollFit uses third-party services to display ads and improve the app:

Google AdMob

ScrollFit integrates Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID), approximate location, and usage events to show personalized or non-personalized ads. This collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

Firebase Analytics

ScrollFit uses Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app and to identify technical issues. Firebase may collect device identifiers, app usage events, and crash logs. This data helps us improve stability and performance. Firebase usage is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

No sale or sharing of personal data for advertising

We do not sell or rent your personal data to advertising networks. Third-party analytics and ad partners use data only as described in their own privacy policies.

6. User Control & Transparency

Full control over app selection

Users choose which entertainment or distracting apps should be controlled by ScrollFit. The app will not block or monitor other apps unless explicitly configured.

Time management control

Users can configure how much time is earned per exercise session. Users can pause or adjust restrictions, subject to security controls to prevent impulsive bypassing.

Transparent operation

ScrollFit does not hide secret features or undisclosed monitoring. When blocking screens or overlays are active, this is clearly visible to the user.

Data portability and deletion

Users may request account deletion and removal of associated cloud data (where applicable).

Local data can be removed by uninstalling the app, although some data may remain in device backups depending on system settings.

Clear premium billing (Google Play)

All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed only through Google Play billing.

Prices, renewal terms, and cancellation instructions are shown in the Play Store subscription interface and in the app's Terms of Service.

7. Audience

ScrollFit is intended for general audiences and is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to ScrollFit without parental consent, please contact us immediately at scrollfitt@gmail.com.

8. Safety Guarantees

ScrollFit makes the following commitments to users:

What the app does not do

Does not sell your personal data to third parties.

Does not record or store video from your workouts.

Does not read your SMS, contacts, call logs, or personal files.

Does not track your location as part of normal operation.

Privacy and security commitments

Use only the minimum data needed to provide and improve the service.

Protect data with reasonable technical and organizational security measures.

Review and improve security as the product evolves.

Compliance approach

While ScrollFit is developed and operated from India, we strive to align with major privacy principles such as GDPR and similar regulations, especially regarding user consent, transparency, and the right to deletion or access where applicable.
